UPDATE: Limited funding of up to £1,500 available for companies recruiting a Graduate!


The University of Liverpool in partnership with the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership is committed to supporting the local economy and is currently offering a training support package of up to £1,500 to local businesses recruiting graduates or students through the Stepping Stones programme. Whilst you are still liable for their wages, the training allowance will help the successful candidate develop any specific skills that would directly benefit your business.

The programme has already assisted 29 companies in creating 33 jobs across Merseyside including success stories such as MedePad, Seaking Electrical and Quantum of Value and there’s currently a limited amount of funding left over to help further new businesses.

Chris is a recent graduate from Business & Management from Leeds Metropolitan with over 10 years’ experience within customer service as well as experience working as an Accounts Assistant and is currently seeking a career within accountancy and/or finance in the Merseyside area.

Local Business Seaking a Quality Graduate!


Wirral based Seaking Electrical ltd is a marine specialist electrical engineering firm founded in 2001 employing more than 100 staff. Catering for the marine, industrial, commercial, military and offshore markets it has worked in countries across the World.

Group Business Development Manager Neil Mellenchip was keen to recruit a Graduate Electrical Engineer with the skills, attitude and ambition to compliment his growing workforce. He contacted Invest Wirral, a specialist team that supports Wirral businesses with their development, who in turn directed him to Steve Wood, Project Manager for Graduate to Merseyside at the University of Liverpool.

Wirral Chamber launch scheme to help new and young businesses

A government-backed scheme has been launched by the Wirral Chamber of Commerce which offers a loan to those who want to start their own business or have been trading for less than 12 months.

The Start Up Loans Programme is aimed at those who may need a little extra cash to get their businesses off the ground or expand if they need to.

Success Story: Recruit a Graduate in two weeks!

Liverpool City Centre based One Four Four Ductwork was set up in 2010 and has over 30 years’ experience in the manufacture and installation of air systems for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. With customers including national organisations as well as local businesses, they are growing every year.

Quantum of Value recruits another graduate and receives up to £3,000 for training...

Quantum of Value, a leading business agility consultancy, recently expanded into Liverpool with the assistance of Liverpool Vision and recruited a University of Liverpool graduate, Joe Brownless, through Graduate to Merseyside (you can read the full story here). Settling into their new surroundings in the historic Port of Liverpool building, Quantum of Value were so impressed with the service they received that they came back to recruit another graduate to grow their team and provide marketing support.

The Liverpool Business Fair has been running since 2002 and it is an annual business event that has become one of the most popular in the region. We have a very broad profile of business visitors with representation from all business sectors and most being at owner/manager/director level (the links below also provide some extra information). We usually get between 600 and 900 visitors to the event.

SMEs leading the recruitment drive in 2014!

According to a recent report by the Associate of Graduate Recruiters the number of graduate vacancies is to rise by 10.2% in 2014 due to growing business confidence and economic growth. Big growth sectors are set to include IT and telecommunications, energy and banking.  What is interesting is that it is the SME market that is spearheading this recruitment drive!
