Graduate of the Month: Chris

This month we profile Chris, a recent first class history graduate from the University of Liverpool. With proven experience in sales and marketing, customer service, and administration he is seeking a challenging role in an administration role in the business or charity sector.

Chris graduated from the University of Liverpool with a First Class honours degree in History in July 2014. At university he developed strong communication skills with consistently high marks for written reports and oral presentations executed to strict deadlines. He further developed his research and analytical skills as part of his dissertation focused on the decisive 1918 General Election in Ireland.

Prior to, and during university, Chris has worked in sales and customer service at Halfords, where his communication skills have been enhanced through dealing with customer enquiries and issues about complex and technical products both face-to-face and over the telephone. He has provided assistance at Cycle2Work road shows on behalf of Halfords presenting products to employees of external companies that have signed up to the scheme. This role has also developed his administration skills having been responsible for updating daily sales targets, auditing and filing legal documents in designated folders, booking customer appointments, stocktaking and posting, demonstrating strong organisational and multi-tasking skills.

As Club Captain of the Liverpool University Cycling Club, Chris negotiated the club’s entry into the Athletic Union and was responsible for liaison with university students and staff, and the submission of important documentation such as risk assessments, budgets and audits.

Since graduating, Chris has been undertaking a Business Development Internship at Quella Bicycles. He has been particularly interested in managing and expanding the company’s social media presence using Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ as marketing tools. Given Quella’s status as a small business, social media has been key to driving sales and interacting with customers, as well as increasing website traffic and optimising search engine results. He has also created basic business models as part of the Quella Student Brand Ambassador project which he has taken a leading role in and is due to launch in the coming weeks.

Chris is eager to undertake training and development to improve and apply his existing skills and is seeking a challenging role in an administration role in the business or charity sector.
